Personal Bests:
1986 50M 6.4 (Andover, Club First Place in Time Trial) I then ran 11.9 winning the 100 almost immediately afterwards and won the 200 after that.
29/06/1985 100M 11.6 (Southern Men’s League New River Stadium) Third, Race won in 11.1 seconds. Proud achievement given that the club did not even have a track for us to train on.
18/04/1992 PV 3.4M (Open Meeting Crawley) Mike Edwards (Senior) broke a pole in that competition.
1992-2019 Salisbury Athletic Club Pole Vault Record Holder. Set at a time when the club did not even have a track, let alone a pole vault coach.
Wilts AAA PV Champion 1992 and 1993 (Swindon)
Civil Service Indoor Championships 26/02/1993 PV Silver Medal (Kelvin Hall) Hardest competition of my life. Someone, no doubt inadvertently, moved my check mark and I nearly no heighted.
Wilts AAA 4 x 400M Gold Medal 1985 (Melksham) Team was Andy Robinson (RIP) Kevin Goddard, me and another athlete whose name I cannot recall.
Wilts AAA Silver Medal 200M 1986 (Swindon) Best race of my life, into a strong headwind. Very nearly did not compete after being given a time in the 100 the previous day .04 - 0.5 seconds slower than the time shown on my team mate’s watch the previous day. Andy Robinson persuaded me to swallow my pride and compete again on the Sunday. So glad I did. I learned a lot about life that weekend.
